A snowbird is defined as a person who migrates south in the winter from higher latitudes and colder climates toward warmer locales. A particularly hot destination for snowbirds is the sunny state of Arizona, which is where the origin story of Snowbirds Ultimate (est. 2019) begins. Primarily made up of former and current Rubix Ultimate players, Snowbirds defines friendships withstanding the test of time. Our inaugural season is a tribute to maintaining friendships through ultimate regardless of where one lives or comes from. We were all snowbirds at some point in our lives and are now Snowbirds Ultimate. One thing is for sure, playing in the desert means “You don’t have to shovel sunshine!”
At the 2019 USA Ultimate Masters Championships, the Ultimate Foundation ran a fundraising contest among all of the competing teams. The team that raised the most money by the end of the last round on Saturday earned bragging rights and customized Ultimate Foundation glass sports mugs.
